ATEX FANS
"As of 2003, only Zone Zero certificated equipment can be lawfully installed for Zone Zero Gases within the European Union."
Our range of centrifugal fans is now complemented by the Meidinger range of explosion-proof, "Zone Zero" fans. This range has been developed for use in areas of explosive atmospheres, caused by mixtures of air and gases, vapours, mists or where air / dust mixtures are present.
The Explosion-proof fans are made from normal steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys or special coatings (Halar®), e.g. for use in chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical plants. These fans can produce volumes up to 5,000m3/h, pressures of up to 34,000Pa and are certified by PTB / INERIS.
The fan is constructed to withstand an internal explosion of design pressure 10 bar. Additionally, flame arrestors are fitted to both sides of the fan, which are tested and certified in accordance with the latest European rules and bear the ATEX-certificate 94/9/EC. These arrestors protect the upstream and downstream installation against fire hazards.
